( 11:07 PM ) October is... National Awareness Month for Domestic Violence... T.D.Jakes, Movie adaptation of his book,"Woman, Thou Art Loosed" is released today. In early 1996, shortly after I filed charges against my husband for physical assault, I was in a Christian Bookstore trying to find the section that dealt with Domestic Violence... I looked and looked, only to finally ask the nearest clerk where that section was located. This was 1996, surely there is a huge section dealing with the issue that affects so many. Nope, no section... clerk asked another clerk who asked another clerk. None of them had even heard of a Christian author that had written anything on Domestic Violence. I couldn't believe it, but I continued to search through the Divorce section, hoping to find answers to the questions I had, answers from a Christian perspective. There was one title that jumped out at me "Woman, Thou Art Loosed". I would love to be loosed I thought. Free from all the pain and mental anguish that had held me prisoner for so long, even if the source was from the one I promised to love. I pulled the book out of the stack, read the back cover, and a paragraph or two. At first I thought this was a book written for the "sistas" but I bought it anyway and read every word. It is a book for the "sisters", every woman, of every nation. An awesome book and movement, one that deserves every bit of attention that it is getting, finally. October is... Breast Cancer Awareness Month which means it is time for the annual, now third annual Boobiethon... My boobies are in.. Are yours??? # :: Your turn to A Muse Me |
