( 10:22 AM ) Way Behind on my Word Count... I am up to around 7000 not sure exactly because I have been writing a lot in a composition book and today I hope to add it to my word doc. Then I can do an official word count update. I should be at 25,000 words by Monday and I have regular housework to do and laundry and blah, blah, blah. I have been using the comp book because after sitting at a computer all day it is hard to sit at one all night. And since I don't have a laptop to carry around with me or to use while in bed I have been writing long hand when and where ever I can. We got a hour lunch on Thursday so I wrote 320 words while at Cheddar's eating lunch. Thursday night I went to the Write In at Starbucks to meet some other people, 3 of us showed up, but then the neatest thing happened other gal who just happens to be from my same town suggested we check out the North Texas Writer's group meeting in the attached B&N (as the promoter of this Write In got a call from his wife and had to scoot.) So we did and it was awesome!!! Didn't get home till after 11pm. This will be the best thing to help me get a novel actually written. The group meets every week. And helps each other in various ways. That night several read a chapter, poem or whatever and the others graciously critiqued it. Most of the "readers" had made copies so we the "critiquers" could mark on those copies any suggestions we had and when the "reader" was finished the "critiquers" in a round the circle order took our turns... For those of you laughing cause you know this is how these groups work.. Good for you (grins) I had no idea, but I am very glad to have met this other gal and found this group... I can do this now without a doubt. Have a great weekend!!! Oh and if anyone just happens to have an old laptop laying around they would like to donate to the cause email me... it doesn't have to do much just let me use Word and have a good battery and power cord and working plug in thingy to download to a disc or thumb drive, which I don't have either. # :: Your turn to A Muse Me |
